Brescia

We arrived in Brescia on Tuesday, May 11 by train.  The reason we came to Brescia was to visit Enrica Lanfranchi and family.  Jeanie met Enrica when we took a family trip to Europe in 1980.  Jeanie and the kids went to Italy first and I joined them in France.  Jeanie stayed at a hostel in Brecia, and they brought Enrica in to translate for her and the kids.  They have corresponded ever since.  Here are some pictures:

Egidio (Enrica's husband), Guido (their son) and Enrica.

We visited the Castle of Brescia, which is situtated on top of Cidneo hill.  It was built on some earlier Roman ruins when Brescia was part of the Venetian Republic, in the 14th century.

Here's a knight on a horse, ca. 1450.  This was part of the museum in the castle.

We had a good time with the computer.  Here's Jeanie showing pictures from 1961, 1980, and 1996.  She worked in a work camp in France in 1961.

That's Egidio, Christina, Guido, Francisco, Enrica, Franca and Guidio Sr..
Franca fixed an Italian supper for us.  Here are some pictures:

The first course was cold meats, beans, peppers, onions, olives, and carrots, with a mustard sauce.

The second course was roast beef and home made french fries, with peppers and zuchinie:

This is the desert, tiramasu.  It was a pineapple and chocolate desert.  Here is the recipe:
3 T. flour
.5 liter milk
250 g. cream cheese
1 layer Ladyfingers
pineapple
1 layer of dark chocolate

Jeanie says she'll fix it at home.  I can't wait!
